The project is to develop deep decarbonization & net zero scenarios for India and identify the emissions peaking timeline followed by estimation of investment demand in the system.

Given the background of the India’s economic and social development prospect and the region’s potential contribution towards global GHG emissions, the study focuses on developing India’s energy sector decarbonization model based on CGE linked MESSAGEix. The major focus of the model are as follows:

1. Given the plan of growth and development of India given the facts of huge untapped potential, what is the prospect emissions peaking in the coming years in power sector?

2. How India should plan to achieve its goals and targets in the given timeline utilizing its financial resources efficiently and effectively to achieve the net zero emissions.
