“Conserving the Sacred Grove in Aravalli”

We are happy to share our contributory work on the forest management of the heritage sacred grove of Haryana, Mangar Bani, nestled in the Aravalli. This highlights the vital role of the local Gujjar Community in actively managing and preserving this ecological treasure. The video showcases the grove’s rich biodiversity, interviews of the locals on their participation in the conservation of this grove and also explores what more is needed for its continued conservation and betterment.

This work was our contribution to the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES)’s Monitoring & Assessment endeavor: “The Assessment of Monitoring Biodiversity & Nature’s Contributions to People.”

Our efforts have been appreciated by officials from both UNESCO and IPBES. Hope the outreach of our initiative in this area will encourage the indigenous community forest management further and draw international attention.
